Be Salty.. For Your Health!

Epsom Salt Baths; have you taken one of these yet?  If you have, you understand how pain relieving, calming and soothing these can be.  If not, you need to discover for yourself just how wonderful and beneficial an Epsom salt bath soak is for your body and your mind!

Epsom salts are a pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate.  When you dissolve these salts in warm water ( I use about 2 cups in my baths) they are absorbed into the skin, this replenishes the magnesium levels in your body.  Magnesium produces serotonin, hence the calm and soothing feeling one gets from one of these baths.

Benefits of magnesium:  good for the heart as it increases circulation, improves muscle and nerve functions, reduces inflammation, improves blood flow and oxygenates the entire body.

Sulfates are necessary for healthy skin, joints and nerves.

The combination of magnesium and sulfates flushes toxins from the body and helps build molecules in the brain tissue and the joints.

When taking Epsom salt baths on a regular basis, say once or twice a week, you can greatly improve many health conditions such as gout, athletes foot, chronic pain and disease.  These salts will help to detoxify the body and bring down inflammation (which is a cause of disease) and help to balance the body.

Please don’t take one of these if you are pregnant or have any open wounds or burns on your skin.  These baths are contraindicated for these conditions.

When taking a bath you don’t want to be rushed, give yourself about 40 minutes to soak.  The first 20 minutes the body will release the toxins and the next 20 minutes it will absorb the minerals.  Also, do not use soap, only the salts.  I highly recommend taking one in the evening.  Afterwards, prepare to have a wonderful night of restful sleep.
