EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique

IMG_1334I’ve been on my spiritual healing path for many, many years now and a most amazing tool I’ve found is EFT. It is one of the most effective tools to overcome anything that you may have an issue with. Perhaps there’s something that you too have resisted healing in your life? Something that keeps reoccurring? Sound familiar?

It’s a very simple technique to use and highly effective! The process is to tap on different acupressure points on the body while talking about a particular issue that is bothering you. As you do this, you release the emotional attachment you feel to that issue.

My introduction to EFT happened about 25 years or so ago, maybe longer. My back had gone out, and I was in deep shuddering pain with every step I took. It was the closest thing to being bed ridden I’d experienced and it was awful!

My massage therapist was close by and I called her to see if she was able to fit me in to help relieve some of this pain. Luckily she was able to see me and so off I went to her office, moving at a snails pace. (I am not a high pain threshold type person).

Another practitioner friend of hers was there and asked me if i would be willing to try out a new modality that she had just learned about. “Sure,” I said. ” anything to ease my discomfort is worth a try!”  So, here’s what we did:

First, we measured my pain on a scale of 1 to 10. ( I felt it was a 10.) Then she had me say a script, like “Even though my back is hurting, I still deeply love and accept myself.” ( This is just an example, each person says what pertains to their situation.)

(At first she had to tap on my body as I wasn’t able to move very well but after a couple of rounds I felt better and was able to do it myself.)

While I was saying the script she would be tapping on my points which are:  Side of hand (karate chop), top of head, top of eyebrow, side of eye, underneath eye, under nose, chin, chest, (like Tarzan did), under breast, and about 4 inches under arm pit. Keep talking and repeating this process until the pain lessens or the emotional charge has gone down considerably.

Amazingly, the pain lessened considerably after only a few rounds! It didn’t go away completely but it was manageable and I knew I was going to be okay.

EFT works! It has helped me with every emotion I can think of and any body pain or issue as well. I’m not saying it is a cure all but it sure takes the emotional charge out of being uncomfortable and it’s empowering!   Examples to use it on are sadness, grief, anxiety, pain (emotional and physical), you get the idea. There is a correlation between our emotional state and how our bodies feel, it’s all connected and we are all connected to each other too.

Peace vs Fear

What is truly going on? Why are people being so horrible to each other? What is the basis of all this? Is it fear? It seems as though common sense has left our country, our flags are being flown at half mast on a regular basis anymore.  So many lives have been lost, every day we hear more tragic news, it’s really wearing us down. Why can’t we all just either be nice to each other or mind our own business? This ugliness is learned, children aren’t born hating they are taught, makes me really sad.  Sad for them, sad for us and sad for the future of our country.

It’s time for those of us who are sane and rational to be the change this country needs. If you fight violence with violence all you get is more violence.   We simply must choose another way!

When I first moved to Florida I was starting in Middle School and busing was fairly new. The idea was to provide equality in education and level the playing field. I came from a very small mid western town in Illinois and was thrown into what felt like a battle zone. It was awful, people fighting, physically and verbally, just hating each other, it felt like what I imagined being in a prison may have felt. It was pretty scary for a small town pre-teen to be thrown into. I wasn’t used to people hating each other just because they were different.

By the end of my high school years things started to calm down, everybody became used to each other, some tolerated each other, some became friends, things got better with time, never perfect, (humans never are) but better.

As an adult, I don’t see people as black or white or yellow or red or whatever and I’m usually a pretty happy person. All that hate takes a lot of energy and focus and it’s just ugly. They say that prejudice and bigotry will end when we are all one color, a beautiful blend of all races. I hope we don’t have to wait that long, there might not be too many of us left.

Not sure what the answers are, but I do know that my focus will be on peace and positive change for all of humanity. They say that peace begins one person at a time, imagine if we all were to focus on peace, perhaps that could make all the difference…………

DOGS – Our Fur-Ever Friends

Personally, I just love dogs, don’t you?

They enhance our homes and our lives in so many ways!

If we are ill or sad they can be our best friends, offering us unconditional love and support.

You know those people who say “hi” to dogs? That’s me, yes, I’m one of those people who will greet your dog as if they are a person. I’m convinced that they know English and adopt us instead of us adopting them. Think about it, we take care of them, offer them a nice home, feed them, take care of their medical needs, they have everything provided for them all for being adorable and affectionate. Pretty clever!

Currently, our household canine is a dachshund named “Fritz”. He is a black and tan and is about 13 years old with some gray on his face and snout. He’s always been very dapper and quite popular with people. ( I don’t think he knows he’s a dog, honestly). Anyway, we just adore him even if he is a bit high maintenance.  He’s very smart and I’m pretty sure he knows English too!

Did you know that dogs are healers? If, for example, you hurt your leg, your dog will instinctively lay beside your hurt leg to touch it and send it healing energy. I never realized this until I read it somewhere. Once I was aware, I started paying attention to it and realized that it is true.

When you are ill or sad they will sit or lay with you until you feel better. They are wonderful listeners too! You can tell them all your troubles and they will offer you a supportive, loving ear to listen.

If you are looking for a good companion and friend I would highly recommend adopting a dog. So many shelters are full of wonderful dogs who would make a great pet for you and your family.

What I’ve noticed with our past menageries is that the male dogs tend to have the best personalities and the females are very protective and literally run the house.

We’ve had all sizes in the past, Larger dogs are great protection and wonderful to have with children, medium sized dogs are nice too although I haven’t had many of them. My favorites are the smaller dogs, they are so cute and easier to manage (at least for me). In Florida, where we live, they tend to live longer than the larger dogs. The extreme heat here is hard on the larger dogs especially if they are really furry. Many people here shave their dogs (and cats too) in the summer, it’s the humane thing to do.

Having a pet is excellent for our health too. It’s well known that petting an animal lowers blood pressure and creates a sense of peace for both the pet and the owner. It’s a win-win situation.

So, in closing, if you are looking for a new friend (one who doesn’t bark back) and a new family member I would highly recommend going down to your local animal shelter and bringing one home!
